This is an opportunity to acquire a piece of northern Kentucky history! Jillian’s was open for nearly eight years in Covington, Kentucky and featured a restaurant, dancing club & bars, games and a bowling alley. The Jillian’s building sat empty until 2016 when Kenton County Fiscal Court purchased the site for its County Administration Building. The sign has important meaning to those who worked and played at Jillian’s. Conditions of Sale: 1.) The sale is for the entire sign/structure and all attachments from ground level up. 2.) Buyer will be fully responsible for the safe removal of the sign including any equipment/tools necessary to complete disassembly. 3.) Buyer agrees to coordinate removal operations with Kenton County and its site contractor, Turner Construction Company. 4.) Buyer must have sign and all appurtenances removed from the site by Friday, November 30th at 4:00 PM. 5.) It is assumed that all work to complete disassembly of the sign/appurtenances will be performed from inside the County’s property (to the north and east of the sign). If work is to require a lane closure on 12th Street or Simon Kenton Way, the buyer will be fully responsible for obtaining necessary permits PRIOR to beginning work in these areas. 6.) The County encourages potential buyers to carefully review all images and perform a site inspection. Submission of a bid shall serve as evidence of a site inspection by the buyer. The County will accept no claims for site conditions or utility conflicts at any time during or after the close of the solicitation. The sale shall be considered final and absolute upon the close of the auction. 7.) This sign and structure is located inside an active construction zone and as such, access is restricted. One, 2 hour inspection period from inside the County’s property has been established for potential buyers between 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. on October 31, 2018. Attendance at this inspection period is not mandatory. No other access inside the construction zone will be permitted for viewing. 8.) Buyer must sign a standard waiver of liability for claims against the County and its site contractor.

All items must be removed by 4:00 P.M. on November 30, 2018. Purchases will be released only upon receipt of payment as specified.

Successful bidders are responsible for loading and removal and any and all property awarded to them from the place where the property is located as indicated on the website and in the Buyer’s Certificate. Buyer must sign a standard waiver of liability for claims against the County and its site contractor.


A daily storage fee of $10.00 may be charged for any item not removed within the 10 business days allowed and stated on the Buyer’s Certificate.
