Description : Up for auction are molded sculptures by Hungarian-Canadian sculptor Elek Imredy (1912-1994). The piece for sale in this lot is "Humpty Dumpty" from the exhibit "Humpty Dumpty". This figure was a showcase piece positioned at the entrance of Never Never Land on top of a sculpture of stacked books. Sculpture has some sign of wear with some paint loss and scratches. The material used for these figures is hand painted fiberglass. This unit is very large and about 8' tall. Please be prepared to arrange loading this item before placing a bid. This piece is part of the "Never Never Land" collection. Never Never Land was a storybook walking trail in Tacoma's Point Defiance Park that first opened in 1964. The "wooded wonderland" attraction ultimately closed in 2001 after constant vandalism and theft proved too challenging to manage in a cost effective manner. The collection has been in storage since Never Never Land closed, and while many pieces were lost during a fire in 2011, a few figures survived. This piece and others like it are fine examples of Tacoma history and are expressions of familiar nursery rhymes from Mid-century American childhood. .

Q: All these sculptures are from Enchanted Forest are they not? (9/19/21 3:13 PM) A: As stated in the listing: This piece is part of the "Never Never Land" collection. Never Never Land was a storybook walking trail in Tacoma's Point Defiance Park. It may also be described as "Wooded Wonderland" but I have no knowledge to it being called Enchanted Forest. I do welcome you to contact the agency contact listed in the advertisement to ask if it could be related to the Enchanted Forest you're thinking of. (9/22/21 2:49 PM) |
