The University of Washington Surplus Property program is pleased to offer this solid wood trestle table for bids. This table is approximately 96"W x 42"D x 29.5"H and weighs approximately 210 pounds. This is a beautifully crafted piece of furniture with some scratches and dings. This table also has a gouge on the corner appox. 2" x 1". (see photos).
The trestle design is characterized by a top sitting upon a trestle, a base constructed of a horizontal beam that supports legs set in the central area of the table. This regal style is one of the oldest table designs, dating back to the Middle Ages. The trestle base offers multiple functional benefits in addition to its elegance. It is incredibly sturdy and strong, and this table is no exception. Additionally, the trestle base can be more comfortable for those seated at the table than one with fixed legs at each corner, as no person is relegated to sitting next to a leg. For these reasons this striking and sensible design has stood the test of time and is popular as a dining room table style today.
This is an opportunity for any Husky who needs ample seating to snag a table with a UW provenance—it is a dinner party conversation piece!
