|Questions and Answers|
Q: Good afternoon, what's the best number to contact you at for more information and to schedule an appointment to come view the bus. (1/19/23 12:26 PM)
A: Hi. My direct number is 248-650-7152. If I am unable to answer any question, I can pose it to our mechanic (a city department of public services). He or one of the staff would be able to answer any during an appointment. I am open to scheduling a time. Mary (1/19/23 12:54 PM)
Q: What motor and series transmission in the bus? What is the overall length of the bus? Does it have air brakes? Any major rust issues? Can you post pictures of the frame/undercarriage? (1/23/23 9:08 PM)
A: Cummins B 5.9 Allison AT-500 It is 35.5 ft long It does have air brakes. There are no major rust issues. I'm not sure that we can get photos of the undercarriage, but I can try. (1/24/23 9:32 AM)
Q: Can you give more information on the engine stalling issue? Can the bus be driven or will it need towed away? Has this issue been looked at by a mechanic? Are you able to post pictures of the engine compartment. (1/24/23 1:49 PM)
A: We have been lucky to partner with a city department of public works mechanics. They have tried varies ways to fix the engine, and I think they could have figure it out, but we chose to retire the vehicle because it was not fair to our staff and patrons having it be so unreliable. There are times it does not stall out and is able to be driven. In November we were able to bring it to our library (to empty) and back to the garage. The times it would stall, if we let it "rest" (turned everything including the generator off) it would start back up and run after about 30 minutes. We would go straight to the garage so we were not stranded after hours. The unfortunate issue is we'd never know when it would happen. It would start up with no problem and run for awhile then stall when getting ready to leave. We would not run during our bookmobile stops. If you have a direct email you don't mind sharing, I can send photos of the engine compartment. Mine is email@example.com. (1/24/23 2:02 PM)
Q: air ride suspension on rear? Cruise control? Dash a/c or just the top units?
What is the highway speed set at? thanks (1/29/23 10:57 AM)
A: It has air brakes, I don't believe there is cruise control, there is dash a/c and heat. I'm not sure of the highway speed setting, but I would guess 55 MPH. (1/30/23 9:09 AM)
