Auto-bid

As a bidder, you don't have to constantly watch auctions and worry about being outbid! All GovDeals Internet Auctions feature an auto-bid. In the bid box on the auction view page, enter the HIGHEST dollar amount that you are willing to pay, and the GovDeals bidding system will bid on your behalf by placing a bid at the current LOWEST minimum bid. If another bidder outbids your LOWEST minimum bid, the system will automatically place another bid, once again making you the current high bidder, until your "top dollar" number is reached. The auto-bidding system will continue to place the LOWEST minimum bids on your behalf until you are the winner of the auction or another bidder bids higher than your auto-bid. Auto-bids are completely private and are never displayed to other bidders. In the event of a reserve price auction, your auto-bid will immediately bid up to the amount of the reserve OR to the max amount of your auto-bid if the reserve price is in excess of your auto-bid.

Bid Extension

If a bid is placed during the final 3 minutes of an auction, the auction will automatically extend for additional 3 minutes. This will continue until no bids are placed during the last three minutes.

Since most bidding occurs during the final minutes of an auction, this allows all bidders a sufficient amount of time to continue bidding.

Lookout people, we have a blank canvas for you up for auction today. This is small passenger bus that could possibly be yours if the price is right. Maybe a urban camper? Maybe a party bus? Just have a ton of kids? Any way you cut it, with a little creativity, this thing could satisfy your needs and wants.

This bus is built upon a 2003 Chevy Express G3500 cutaway with the 6.0L GM V8.The bus portion was completed by Mid Bus in Ohio, and is nicer than your standard school bus. I would compare it to a charter bus or the like. The seats are all individual cloth seats with their own seat belts, there is overhead storage for luggage or gear, rear heat and A/C, and a headliner to keep the noise down. It even has a hitch on the back to haul a trailer of your stuff.

This bus did primary duty with our Recreation Department, only racking up a mere 28,162 miles since 2003. They used it for events in the City, road runs, ball tournaments, and would occasionally get lent out to Public Works another division for people transport. The bus has great tires on it, and goes down the road ok. With it being a 2003, the age is starting to catch up to it in the corrosion department, and we just don't utilize it enough anymore to justify ongoing repairs on it. The front bumper has significant rust through, as well as a rust hole near the right rear wheel well. The bus does have a water leak over the cup holders that only leaks every once and awhile - There is some excessive silicone around the windshield from an attempted repair in our Rec Dept. We recently removed some of the seam sealer and caulking and redid it, sealing lights and areas around the front, but it will still get water every once and awhile if parked the right direction in the rain. This year we also replaced the belts, idlers, and the coolant reservoir and hoses. Every year the rear A/C needs to be recharged before the A/C works in the overhead unit.

Fleet Services removed this unit from service in September of 2019 due to age and exterior condition. I drove it around for a bit today, and would feel confident in driving it anywhere. No guarantees of course, but it feels pretty solid.

Video will be available on our Woodstock Fleet Maintenance YouTube channel.

Questions and AnswersQuestions and Answers
Q: Greetings- can you measure the interior height (floor to ceiling) in the center aisle? Thanks. (10/12/19 11:10 AM)
A: The height from the floor to ceiling in the center aisle is approximately 6' 1". (10/14/19 8:15 AM)

Q: The city ordinance requisitioning the sale mentions an intermittent engine issue. Can you please elaborate? (10/12/19 8:44 PM)
A: The trigger that brought the bus into the Fleet Division was second-hand information about a running condition experienced during a park tour. Fleet heard that the bus had difficulty running, or stalled in an area with a large hill. While the unit was down at the Fleet Facility, the overall condition of the bus was evaluated and decided that the bus would be removed from service based on the body/cosmetic issues combined with the limited utilization. When preparing the bus for auction, I personally drove it about town for a day as I completed my normal tasks, even taking time to follow the route when they experienced issues. At no time did I feel any concerns, hesitation, or rough running issues, even with periods of hard acceleration, inclines, or firm braking. No check engine codes or a history were present. (10/14/19 8:12 AM)

Q: What is the severity of rust in the undercarriage and entry steps? (10/12/19 8:47 PM)
A: The undercarriage is rusty, but the structure of the frame and body did not appear to be compromised. The bus sat for long periods of time, so the moisture beneath did not do it any favors. The entry steps do not currently have any rust through holes, however, the edges and risers are starting to rust and flake, forecasting future issues. The overall condition to repair the corrosion of the body and other cosmetic issues combined with the limited utilization is ultimately why we decided to remove it from service. (10/14/19 8:06 AM)
