You will be bidding on a Steel Fire Lookout Tower (120 Ft. & built in 1945). The winning bidder will be responsible for the disassembling and removal of this property plus all loading of the property (concrete pillars not required to be removed). Any contents found in the cab of the tower is property of the Forestry Commission and will remain with them. This property is located at the State Forestry Commission in Duncan, South Carolina. The overall condition of this property is unknown to the Surplus Property Office. No appointment is needed for inspection because the area is accessible for anyone.

*This item is for pickup only at the State Forestry Commission in Duncan, South Carolina. The winning bidder will have 45 days to remove the property and will be responsible for the disassembling and removal of this property plus all loading of the property. The winning bidder will also be responsible for disposing of all debris related to the removal of this property from the site. The debris removal is to be done in accordance to all state and federal DHEC and Spartanburg County regulations. Also, there should be no holes left from the removal of the property and the ground needs to be left level.*

PLEASE NOTE: A 7.5% ADMINISTRATIVE FEE WILL BE CHARGED TO THE WINNING BIDDER.

THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER(S) AGREES THAT ITS AGENTS, CONTRACTORS OR REPRESENTATIVES SELECTED TO REMOVE THE PURCHASED PROPERTY WILL MAINTAIN, THROUGHOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF ITS OBLIGATION TO REMOVE THE PURCHASED PROPERTY, A POLICY OR POLICIES OF WORKERS’ COMPENSATION INSURANCE WITH SUCH LIMITS AS MAY BE REQUIRED BY LAW AND A POLICY OR POLICIES OF GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE INSURING AGAINST LIABILITY FOR INJURY TO, OR DEATH OF, PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO, OR DESTRUCTION OF, PROPERTY ARISING OUT OF OR BASED UPON ANY ACT OR OMISSION OF THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER(S) OR ANY OF ITS SUBCONTRACTOR(S) OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES OR AGENTS. SUCH GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE SHALL HAVE LIMITS OF NO LESS THAN $1,000,000 PER OCCURRENCE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTRACT PROVIDER SHALL INDEMNIFY, DEFEND AND SAVE HARMLESS THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD AND THE SC FORESTRY COMMISSION FROM ANY LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF THE CONTRACTOR’S ACTS OR OMISSIONS INCLUDING THE FAILURE TO SECURE ADEQUATE INSURANCE COVERAGE AS PRESCRIBED HEREIN. ALL COVERAGE’S SHALL REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT DURING THE ENTIRE TERM OF THE CONTRACT. AT ALL TIMES DURING THE TERM OF THIS CONTRACT, THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER(S) SHALL MAINTAIN EMPLOYEE PRACTICES LIABILITY INSURANCE WITH MINIMUM COVERAGE OF $1,000,000.00 PER CLAIM AND $1,000,000.00 AGGREGATE. PROOF OF THE REQUIRED INSURANCE MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA SURPLUS PROPERTY OFFICE FROM THE WINNING BIDDER PRIOR TO THE REMOVAL OF ANY PURCHASED PROPERTY.

Payment in full is due not later than 5 business days from the time and date of the Buyer’s Certificate. Acceptable forms of payment are: U. S. Currency, Certified Cashiers Check, Money Order, or a South Carolina (in state) Check (with Bank Letter guaranteeing funds – mandatory) Checks shall be made payable to: The State of South Carolina. All payments are processed at the Surplus Property Office, 1441 Boston Avenue, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170.

A daily storage fee of $25.00 may be charged for any item not removed within the 45 business days allowed and stated on the Buyer’s Certificate. The Buyer will make all arrangements and perform all work necessary, including packing, loading and transportation of the property.

Consideration of Bid. State of South Carolina reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to withdraw from sale any of the items listed.
