BENTON FIRE TOWER

*Buyer is responsible for: furnishing proof of liability insurance to the seller. Please see insurance requirements attached. The fire tower must be removed 30 calendar days after payment is received; and, for the removal and transportation to the buyer’s property as indicated on the attached document* (PLEASE also see the additional information document, BENTON FIRE TOWER SPECIAL TERMS, CONDITIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS)

Tower Location: 21145 N. US Highway 441 and Benton Road, White Springs, FL 32096 or 30 29’11.98 N 82 39’38.05 W.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) intends to only sell the tower and not the property on which the tower is located. The purpose of this auction is to sell 1 (one) galvanized steel fire tower, with or without the pylons. Bidders are encouraged to remove the pylons, along with the tower; however, it is not required to remove the pylons. Bidders who remove the pylons shall cause minimal ground disturbance when removing pylons, as well as, return the ground to its previous state, including providing necessary fill dirt. This is a 100 ft. tower with a trap door entrance and a standard 7' X 7' cabin. Inside of the cabin is infested with bees. It was constructed in 1953 of galvanized steel, 15 flights of wood stairway system (very rotten) to the cabin floor, wood steps in poor condition and not safe to walk on. Metal panels for exterior walls and with twin 3’x4’ windows on all four (4) sides, radio antennas along with a weather instrument on the cabin. This structure has minimal electrical wiring, window A/C and single light. No attic nor crawlspaces.

The Buyer will make all arrangements and perform all work necessary, loading, including packing, dismantling (if applicable), and transportation of the property. Under no circumstances will Seller assume responsibility for packing, loading or shipping.

Q: Hello Frank, Ihave taken down restored and re-erected several Florida Fire Towers in the past as that is my business... Fire Tower Restoration. I might bid on this one... Also I have the drawings for them and can be hired to take down and or relocate fire towers anywhere in the us. Inspection
* BY APPOINTMENT ONLY** SITE VISIT/INSPECTION An onsite inspection of the tower is recommended. All prospective bidders should perform their own due diligence prior to submitting a bid. Interested bidders may inspect the tower for sale prior to submission of bids. Due to the poor conditions and safety concerns of the wood stairs, bidders are not allowed to climb the stairs in the interest of safety. Bidders shall contact Luke Lucas at (386) 243-6235 or Frank Aiello at (386) 243-6234 (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. EST) to schedule inspection of the tower. Bidders shall consider all site conditions when dealing with the removal of the tower from the property. To the best of the department’s knowledge, all asbestos has been abated and removed from this tower. The department will provide documentation upon request.
Payment
Payment in full is due not later than 5 business days from the time and date of the Buyer’s Certificate. SALES TAX WILL BE DETERMINED AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES, BASED ON THE BUYER'S COUNTY OF RESIDENCE. Removal
