ODENA FIRE TOWER

The purpose of this auction is to SELL 1 (one) galvanized steel fire tower, with or without the pylons. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) intends to only sell the tower and not the property on which the tower is located.

Bidders are encouraged to remove the pylons, along with the tower; however, it is not required to remove the pylons. Bidders who remove the pylons shall cause minimal ground disturbance when removing pylons, as well as, return the ground to its previous state, including providing necessary fill dirt.

This is an 80 ft. tower with a hatch door entrance and a standard 8' X 8' ft. or 64 sq. ft. cabin. It was constructed in 1953 of galvanized steel with pressure treated wood steps and cabin floor, both of which are in fair condition. Note: windows are missing from the tower cab, and the attached broken antenna will go with the tower.

Tower Location: 9424 E. Hwy 98, Port St Joe, Florida. Driving Directions: From Port St. Joe at the intersection of Hwy 71 and Hwy 98, head east on Hwy 98 approx. 11 miles, site on left, has sign that says Odena Forestry Site.

SITE VISIT/INSPECTION An onsite inspection of the tower is recommended. All prospective bidders should perform their own due diligence prior to submitting a bid. Interested bidders may inspect the tower for sale prior to submission of bids. Bidders shall contact Bryce Thomas (850) 827-1421 (between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Central Time) to schedule inspection of a tower. Bidders shall consider all site conditions dealing with the removal of the tower from the Department property.

To the best of the department’s knowledge, all asbestos has been abated and removed from this tower. The department will provide documentation upon request.

Q: I have general liability insurance that covers both Florida and Georgia. However, I am not yet registered to do business in the state of Florida. Will there be any exceptions? (10/12/16 1:22 AM)
A: According to the policy, the buyer must have all the required document before proceeding to remove the tower from the site. At this time we cannot make any exceptions. (10/12/16 11:17 AM)

If you are the winning bidder, contact the Seller PRIOR to arriving to VERIFY THE LOCATION of the item(s) won, and any additional instructions on payment, pickup and removal.

If there are any issues with the item at the time of removal, resolve them with the Seller BEFORE THE ITEM IS REMOVED.

This asset must be removed by November 7, 2016. Purchases will be released only upon receipt of payment as specified.

The Buyer will make all arrangements and perform all work necessary, loading, including packing, dismantling (if applicable), and transportation of the property. Under no circumstances will Seller assume responsibility for packing, loading or shipping.

If Seller confirms that the property does not conform to the description, Seller will keep the property and refund any money paid. The liability of the seller shall not exceed the actual purchase price of the property.
