Vehicles are sold as is and where is. There is no warranty expressed or implied as to their functionality. These vehicles have been used in service for duration of miles and hours that at least meet or exceed their expected useful life. These vehicles were built on the assumption that to safely and reliably operate them as a transit vehicle, that maintenance is required to be performed to the manufacturer’s recommendations, at the recommended intervals. Operation of the vehicle while failing to properly maintain them can result in property damage, injury or even death. These transit vehicles require trained mechanics to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. In most cases the maintenance tasks require special tools to properly perform the repairs. On the average, a transit bus can cost over $18 per hour to operate in fuel and maintenance alone. These vehicles were maintained during their life up to the time of being removed from service. The vehicles were all due for preventative maintenance inspection and repair at the time they were removed from service. ***The buyer must assume that all vehicles will need maintenance and repair immediately. This is more applicable as time accumulates as the vehicles remain parked out of service.*** It is recommended that the buyer have relevant knowledge of transit vehicles when reviewing the bus prior to bidding.
