These heat exchanges were used in a ZIMPRO process to regenerate carbon in waste water. The process operated at 471 degrees Fahrenheit at 900 PSI. The system was in use from 1981 until August of 2011 when it was decommissioned after a new treatment facility was put into operation.

This sale consists of two bundles as described below: Inventory ID W-105-1089 (HX-056) and W-106-1093 (HX-057) Each bundle consists of six vertical double pipe u-bends 32' long (Nominal size 2 1/2" x 4"). The shell (Outer tube) is: 4.026" x 0.237" thick. The tube (inner) is: 2.875" O.D. x 0.203" thick.

A: The MHMUA does not know the weight of the heat exchangers. The successful bidder is required to estimate the weight for removal purposes based on the amount, size and thickness of the tubes and shells in each of the two bundles. The information attached to the auction lists the materials of construction for weight estimating purposes. The heat exchangers have residual scale that will add weight that needs to be considered for lifting purposes. The successful bidder must have the proper insurance and certificates to remove the heat exchangers. (8/2/12 7:51 AM)
