Q: Good morning. Please what specific purpose is the truck used for? I can see that it has two steerings, what is the second one at the perssenger seat used for? Is it possible to hook a flatbed or lowboy unto this truck for haulage? Thank you. (9/26/12 5:10 AM) A: The truck, which has what is called a drop frame, was used as an automated garbage truck. The body was removed and placed on a new chassis. The double steering ability allows a garbage truck driver to operate the truck from either side....depending on which side of the road he is picking up garbage cans on. The truck frame could pull a lowboy trailer...with some simple fabrication work. (9/27/12 10:58 AM) |

Q: Hi, In your previous question you answered that a garbage truck body was on this chasi and then removed to be put on a new chasi. What brand and size of a garbage truck body was on this chasi before it was removed? Thank you (10/9/12 6:29 PM) A: Brand: Labrie Size: Expert 2000 (10/10/12 11:28 AM) |

Q: Why did you change the bodies with new chasi's? What is wrong with these Chasi's that they needed replaced? (10/17/12 11:26 AM) A: These chassis were used for automated garbage truck collection operations. Wear and tear from a thousand stops/starts per day takes it's toll on a chassis. After one studies a) the maintenance cost of a wearing 5 year old chassis(compared to that of a new chassis) and b) an expired manufacturers warranty on major drive train components....it only makes good budget management sense to make the change before something large breaks down and costs you thousands of dollars in rental truck cost...on top of the actual cost of the repair itself. In solid waste operations....one CANNOT run the risk of losing a truck for weeks on end and having garbage piling up on the sides of the road. In good fleet management, one plans for continuity of operations....not playing catch up!!! Nothing is wrong with the vehicles on GovDeals.....they were all in good operating order when parked.
