Payment: Payment in full is due not later than 5 business days from the time and date of the Buyer’s Certificate. Acceptable forms of payment are: U. S. Currency, Certified Cashiers Check, or Money Order. Cashier’s checks and money orders shall be made payable to: City of Marquette. Payments may be made in person at Marquette City Hall, Treasurer’s Office, 2nd Floor, 300 W. Baraga Ave. Marquette, MI 49855 or may be mailed to City of Marquette, Attn: Finance Dept, 300 W. Baraga Ave, Marquette, MI 49855. Note: Any asset sold for more than $3,000 is subject to final approval by the Marquette City Commission. State/Local Sales and/or Use Tax: Michigan Residents are responsible for 6% sales tax on the amount of purchase unless resale certificate or exempt sales tax number is presented at time of payment. Michigan sales tax may be charged on vehicle sales. Some exceptions apply to out-of-sate purchasers. Determination of sales tax responsibility will be made at time of award. Removal: Purchases will be released only upon receipt of payment as specified. Assets selling for less than $3,000 must be removed within 10 business days from the time and date of successful bid notification. Assets selling for more than $3,000 must be picked up within 10 days following city commission approval. Successful bidders are responsible for loading and removing any and all property awarded to them from the place where the property is located as indicated on the website and the auction page. The Buyer will make all arrangements and perform all work necessary, including packing, loading and transporting the property. Under no circumstances will the City of Marquette assume responsibility for packing, loading or shipping. Property may only be removed between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Tuesday or Thursday.
