Q: please explain the auto bid ext sounds like this bidding could go on for alot more than 3 minutes, if this is true i am finished with govt deals. (6/13/13 10:19 AM)
A: If you click on the word extension just above the current bid on the right side of the screen, GovDeals provides the following explanation: Bid Extension If a bid is placed during the final 3 minutes of an auction, the auction will automatically extend for additional 3 minutes. This will continue until no bids are placed during the last three minutes. Since most bidding occurs during the final minutes of an auction, this allows all bidders a sufficient amount of time to continue bidding. This feature also prevents bid “sniping”; where a bidder tries to place a bid at the very last second of the auction to prevent the opportunities for others to outbid them. (6/13/13 10:38 AM)
